A good example of this Soviet classic, a well-built and rugged machine. It has been taken from a large private collection found in the estate of a dedicated collector in Devon. I have been fortunate enough to acquire a number of interesting cameras kept by him for decades, all of which need now new homes.
This model was produced for a very long period, this example being from earlier production years with the gold logo on the front of the body. It is cosmetically very good: there are general signs of ageing or light wear but no serious blemishes, scratches, dents or scrapes. The vinyl trim is flat and intact. The camera has also been kept very clean and retains a smart and bright appearance.
Mechanically, the shutter cocks and fires smoothly on all settings. The viewfinder is clear and the rangefinder patch is bright and working. The light meter responds to input, assumed working. The Lens is imperfect: the aperture and focus adjusts well but the optics have blemishes including fine scratches and some dust. It may still be useable for general applications, there’s no haze or deep scratches.
The case shows ageing and wear but remains strong and clean.
